Michael Cooper, our head instructor, has been training martial arts for many years. He has dedicated 100% of his time in the last several years to train and study multiple martial arts.
After years of training martial arts, Michael has found the most effective style that will actually work in real life is Krav Maga. It has been proven time and time again to work, even under highly stressful situations.
The Krav Maga system was designed many decades ago by taking techniques that work from many different styles and putting them together to form Krav Maga.
Learning self defence not only gives you confidence and the ability to protect yourself and your loved ones but can also have huge benefits towards your health.
Here at Command Self Defence, we can tailor private lessons to suit your required needs. From one-off lesson to regular weekly private lessons, talk to us and we can discuss what suits you. We can also train the entire family at the same time.
We come to you so you can train in the privacy of your own home or if that doesn’t work we can train in your local park. Training is also available at our gym at Mortlake.
What We Teach
Our main focus is Krav Maga but can offer other services too.
Below is a brief description of what we can offer.
This is a highly effective self defence system. We offer a curriculum based training program or shorter one or two day seminars. Krav Maga has a complete system of Striking, kicking, to take downs, ground defence, knife and bat defences.
Self Defence (Basics)
These classes are designed as a one or two day course to give people some basic techniques that Commend Self Defence think are vital to know. These courses are tailored towards beginners.
After finishing this course you we feel confident you can protect yourself.
This is a Korean martial art focusing of sword fighting and archery. Kummooyeh also known as Kumdo has a curriculum made up from several levels such as meditation, sword patterns, mat cutting, foam sword sparring and archery. Kummooyeh techniques are balanced and powerful.
This style is new to Australia and is a hybrid style made up from Hapkido and Kummooyeh.
Hapkimooyeh is also a Korean martial art and focuses on joint locks, throws, weapon defences, kicking and striking. It is designed to quickly subdue your opponent.
Michael our head instructor is also a certified personal trainer. If you just need to improve your fitness, get stronger and healthier Michael can help. We can even design a program that is a mixture of self defence and fitness.

We are based in Mortlake and will travel to most suburbs around the inner west area. Some of the areas we travel to are Concord, Five Dock, Burwood, Gladesville, West Ryde, Drummoyne, Balmain, Homebush, Homebush West, Leichhardt, Haberfield, Russell Lea, Abbotsford, Rodd Point, Hunters Hill, and Putney.
